Get creative to help sick and injured kids

Manitoba (April 15, 2022) – Manitoba’s farming community is finding creative ways to support sick and injured kids!

The Pre-Seed Shinny Round-Up is a fun hockey tournament for farmers that takes place every April in St. Jean Baptiste, with proceeds donated to the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

During the pandemic the tournament was on hold, but that doesn’t mean this kind-hearted community stopped raising funds for kids in hospital.

Pre-Seed Shinny organizers pulled together an online auction, curated for a very specific crowd. Prizes included herbicide, canola seed and wire welders and they were able to raise over $23,000.

In 2022, the tournament was able to move forward once again but the auction was so successful organizers kept it going too. Altogether, this amazing event raised almost $30,000.

The Pre-Seed Shinny event is just one example of the many creative ways community members support sick and injured children. Fundraisers can include t-shirt sales, lemonade stands, birthday parties and so much more. Initiatives of all kinds are important and can make an impact for the more than 130,000 kids who need HSC Winnipeg Children’s Hospital each year.
