Bringing joy and thrills: Suspended Superheroes raise critical funds for HSC Children’s Hospital

Winnipeg, MB (October 3, 2025) — Superheroes once again leapt into action at HSC Children’s Hospital for the fourth annual Suspended Superheroes fundraiser. They brought Halloween magic and smiles to kids in hospital while also raising vital support for child health.

Organized by Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba and Winnipeg-based Voyageur Technical, participants dressed as superheroes and community protectors. They geared up in costumes, uniforms, and safety harnesses to rappel down Manitoba’s only children’s hospital. Children and families watched from inside their rooms and met their favourite heroes in person. The event served as a thrilling moment of joy and distraction during their hospital stay.

This year, rope access and rescue specialists from Voyageur Technical, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service members, the Winnipeg Police Service, the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP and special superheroes-in-training united to raise more than $88,000 for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.

“Each year, Suspended Superheroes gets bigger, bolder, and more meaningful,” says Stefano Grande, President and CEO of Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. “These dedicated groups are not only fundraising for the care kids need, but also giving families comfort and joy during difficult times in hospital. We are so grateful for their commitment.”

Health care experts say celebrations like this make a real difference for young patients.

“Suspended Superheroes is a highlight of the year,” says Jenny Kidder, Manager of Child Life, at HSC Children’s Hospital. “The joy, distraction and sense of celebration bring comfort to kids and families, and truly help support their healing journey.”

Voyageur Technical and emergency responders say they’re honoured to take part. “We are proud to return for a fourth year and to stand alongside our emergency response partners,” says Chris Toews, Managing Director of Voyageur Technical. “Seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces makes this one of the most rewarding days of the year.”

Other partners echoed the sentiment, who said the event reinforces their community commitment to the children who are the real superheroes. Members from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, Winnipeg Police Service, Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP said the joy of the day is unforgettable.

This fundraiser was made possible thanks to generous community support from Voyageur Technical, Maple Leaf Ropes and Reliant Action.
