Winnipeg, MB (August 18, 2025) – Thousands of teddy bears and their best friends are preparing for Manitoba’s most beloved summer tradition as the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba hosts its 36th annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic – where community spirit helps make anything possible for children who need HSC Children’s Hospital.
Teddy Bear’s Picnic presented by Johnston Group, on Sunday, September 7 at Assiniboine Park from 9 am – 4 pm is an exciting day of fun that provides kid-friendly activities to help families learn and understand what they might see in a hospital or child health research environment.
Start the day in a delicious way by attending the Teddy Bears’ Pancake Breakfast by IHOP from 9 – 11:30 am. New this year: Purchase your $5 pancake breakfast tickets in advance at goodbear.ca/TBPBreakfastTickets. Tickets will also be available to purchase in-person at Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
Also new this year, Children’s Hospital Foundation is testing a pre-booking system for two popular attractions: the Dr. Goodbear Clinic and the I Want to be a Scientist tent. A limited number of spaces will be available to book in advance. To prebook a time at either activity visit goodbear.ca/TBPBookAppointment. Advance booking closes on August 31 or when spaces are filled. Walk up visits to both activities will still be available!

Since it began in 1987, Teddy Bears’ Picnic by Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba has welcomed over one million children with their bears to learn about important topics such as health and wellness, what happens in hospital and the fun of science and research. Plus, the programming at Picnic is all delivered in an entertaining and inclusive way. In 2024, Teddy Bears’ Picnic welcomed over 35,000 people and more than 2,000 teddy bear patients were treated in the Dr. Goodbear Clinic. The Children’s Hospital Foundation looks forward to another beary successful day for kids and families this September.

The 36th annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic features:
- Over 20 tents with fun activities for kids and caregivers to enjoy.
- The Dr. Goodbear Clinic, where kids’ teddy bears are triaged and can go through a variety of medical tests and treatments including MRIs, X-rays, casting and more. New this year is the ability to pre-book your bear’s appointment at goodbear.ca/TBPBookAppointment. Limited spots are available for pre-bookings. Walk-up visits will be available 9 am – 3 pm.
- The I Want to be a Scientist tent, put on by Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba, with hands-on science and engaging kid-friendly activities. Limited spots are available for pre-bookings at goodbear.ca/TBPBookAppointment. Walk-up visits are welcome.
- Teddy Bears’ Picnic 50/50 draw supported by Food Fare – your chance to win big and give back. This is an online raffle and supporters do not need to be present to win. Plus, every ticket sold helps kids in Manitoba’s only children’s hospital. The current prize pot is nearly $30,000! Tickets are available at goodbear.ca/5050.
- Main stage entertainment generously sponsored by Endless Events, with performances from 9 am – 4 pm by Heather’s Pretty Parties, Micah!, Mason Hoop Dancers, James Culleton Super Fun Show, Manitoba Baton Twirling & Sportive Association, RWB creative movement class, and more!
- Kids’ activities like GellyBall, facepainting, special character visits, crafts, Teddy’s ball pit, Winnipeg Blue Bombers – Grey

- Iconic Dr. Goodbear stuffies, bear ears, pins, socks and more are available for purchase at the Dr. Goodbear Store. 100% of proceeds from Dr. Goodbear merchandise supports kids needing Manitoba’s only Children’s Hospital.
- Site maps with descriptions and locations for all activities and tents are available at the information tents onsite.
Park and ride locations include:
- St. Paul’s High School at 2200 Grant Ave.
- Shaftesbury High School at 2240 Grant Ave.
- The Assiniboine Park Trolley will also be running on a loop within Assiniboine Park every 30 minutes from 10 am to 6 pm.
Teddy Bears’ Picnic is made possible by over 1,000 volunteers dedicating their time and talent to plan, set up and run the event. The Dr. Goodbear Clinic and I Want to Be a Scientist tents are hosted entirely by frontline staff with real health care and research experience.
