Winnipeg, MB (May 27, 2023) – Walmart Canada stores in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario are celebrating a massive milestone – over $5 million raised for kids who need HSC Children’s Hospital, through donations to Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) since the program began in 1994.
Walmart helps raise funds through coordinated point of sale donations at their cashiers, corporate donations, canister programs, vendor campaigns, and CMN sponsorships. Donations made locally stay local, and go towards life-saving equipment, leading-edge research and innovative programs that provide comfort for families in hospital. Walmart is Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba’s largest fundraising partner and one of the Foundation’s longest-standing CMN partnerships.
“We’re proud to have such an engaged group of associates at all our Walmart stores who are dedicated to helping children in hospital,” says Eric Payne, Manitoba Market Leader for Walmart Canada. “This incredible accomplishment in support of our local Children’s Miracle Network hospital showcases the passion our Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario Walmart employees have for giving back to our community and helping make sure all children have the opportunity to thrive.”
Over 140,000 kids rely on HSC Children’s Hospital each year for the care and treatment they need, and countless more benefit from leading-edge work done at Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba. Since 2019, Walmart’s contributions have supported the Foundation’s $75 million Better Futures campaign to transform child healthcare and research, the largest-ever donor driven campaign for child health in our province.
“Walmart Canada’s ongoing support makes a difference for families in hospital every single day and helps make sure kids continue to receive the best care possible,” says Stefano Grande, President and CEO of Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. “At the Foundation, we are so grateful for Walmart’s generosity and dedication to families in hospital.”
Walmart has partnered with Children’s Miracle Network since opening its doors in Canada in 1994 and has raised over $200 million for Canadian children’s hospitals.
“Walmart Canada is an incredible partner,” says Adam Starkman, incoming President and CEO of Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations. “They have been actively raising funds for children’s health for almost thirty years, and this year hit the incredible milestone of raising $200 million dollars to support children’s hospital foundations across Canada. Their associates and customers care deeply about the health and well-being of Canada’s kids and families.”
