Barb Lamonica: Manager, Care Coordination

Bio: Worked at HSC for 25 years, currently managing the womens nursing ands support float pools and adult support float pool.  I am a very kind person who treats everyone fairly. 

I enjoy heckling staff trying to dunk me, dry towels (because I do not get dunked), and I love cats.  I wish everyone good luck – and can’t wait to win this so you can dunk me.  All donations matter and they go to a great cause here at HSC.

Don Mckenzie: Manager, Patient Care Mental Health

Bio: 26 years at the center in various roles

Amanda Dowbenko: Business & Finance Lead

Bio: Been with Shared Health since January 2021 and with HSC since December 2022.  I have so much to learn and am in awe of the work of our leaders, Directors and Managers, and of our front-line staff who show tremendous dedication, compassion, and selflessness as they work to make HSC a safe and healing place to be.

‘Fun with Finance’ has been a new moniker that I’m happy to hold as we work to support the financial and business side of HSC and its easier to work in excel without water

Shawn Young: Executive – COO

Bio: Shawn joined HSC Winnipeg as Site Medical Lead in April 2020, and was selected as the Chief Operating Officer in April 2022. With over 15 years of leadership experience guiding programs and sites through periods of rapid and historic change, he is committed to supporting clinical strategies to enhance quality and access to services at HSC.

He works closely with the executive team and physician leadership to promote strategic medical advances to care and pathways that are aligned with the vision and values of HSC and Shared Health.

Johnny Colatruglio: Change Clinical Lead HSC

Bio: Spotlights on! Do you remember our very own Johnny Colatruglio, HSC’s reality TV star from Big Brother Canada 3 and champion of the HSC Foundation’s 2015 Celebrity Human Race?

Transitioning from Big Brother dramatics to real-world impact, Johnny is now at the helm of change at HSC. By teaming up with clinicians and healthcare professionals, he’s instrumental in driving patient care improvements as HSC’s dynamic Clinical Change Lead.

Let’s rally behind Johnny! Donate today for a chance to see him take an icy plunge in the dunk tank at HSC’s Staff Appreciation BBQ!

Donna Lee Samson: Director, Renal Health

Bio: Hey, have you met Donna Lee Samson? She’s been the Director of Health Services for the Renal Health Program and PICC services for two years and is super passionate about helping patients and staff. Her colleagues think she’s the best because she’s always willing to go above and beyond to help others.

Oh, and if you want to have some fun and support a great cause, make sure to donate to Donna Lee to be in the staff HSC picnic dunk tank. She’s a great sport—always ready to lend a hand and help out with raising funds for the HSC Foundation.

Chrissy Carson: Manager PACU, Day Surgeries

Bio: Chrissy Carson has spent most of her career at HSC in critical and operative care. She is currently the manager of Adult PACU, Day Surgery and pediatric day surgery

Chrissy is a manager supreme by day and fitness enthusiast at night. She is ready to challenge all of you to raise more money than she can. ‘Put up your dukes’ and join the fight to support health care in MB

Dr. Biniam Kidane: Thoracic Surgon

Bio: He is our very own recent medal of excellence recipient. His is best known for his outstanding surgical skills, innovating thinking and desire to ensure Manitoba’s receive the best standard of care in a timely manner.

I believe he was quoted as saying that  he win, hands down, the ‘the most donations received’ as well over his colleagues Dr Young and Dr Pelletier

I dare you to try and dunk me.

Jennifer Cumpsty: Executive Director

Bio: She has worked in various areas to include Women’s Health, Emergency, Renal, Acting CNO prior to her current. Jennifer has worked with and has impacted many an employee here at HSC in her various roles.

Word at the water cooler is that staff are lining up for the opportunity to dunk her. Jennifer is no stranger to water and uses her snorkel set on as many occasions as she can. Please donate to Jennifer C so that she has the opportunity to wear it on June 14th 2023.

Dr. Manon Pelletier: CMO HSC

Bio: She has spent much of her career at HSC, paving the way for family physicians to work in critical care as house medical officers and playing a critical role in the development of the first Clinical Assessment Unit at HSC and subsequent CAU’s at St. Boniface and Grace hospitals.

For the past five years, Manon has been HSC’s Clinical Assessment Unit Site Medical Lead. She brings a solution-focused approach to the clinical challenges we face. She leads and continues to advance Hospitalist opportunities within our facility, championing shared care and collaborative care models and has been a key contributor to the HSC medical leadership team throughout the pandemic.

Dr Pelletier accepts Dr Kidane’s challenge to raise the most monies in the physician category. She is confident she will be victorious

Nicole Kjartanson: NICU Executive Business/Financial Lead

Bio: Having worked at both St. Boniface Hospital, as well as here at HSC, she is hoping to speak to an even larger fan base who would like to see her dunked! As fierce as her red hair would suggest, Nicole was the only representative brave enough to volunteer from the neonatology or children’s programs. Dedicated to serving Manitoba’s smallest patients, Nicole is hoping to raise the biggest funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Mike Houston: Environmental Services Director

Bio: Started at HSC in 2008 in Supply and Distribution then moved to Facility Management in 2012.

In 2019  Mike joined the North West Company then came back to HSC Shared Health in March of 2022 to join Environmental Services.

Excited to support these amazing foundations on behalf of our outstanding team in Environmental Services. He has been bragging to the team that he is going to ‘mop up’ the competition and get the most donations

Jennifer Spenser: Executive Director

Bio: . Having worked in healthcare for over 20 years, she came to the position having worked as the Director of Home Care Centralized Services, the Regional Palliative Care Program, and previously as the Director for Mental Health Integrated Services at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. 

Jennifer is an avid hockey mom in her down time and is no stranger to fierce competition. Locker room talk is that she will victorious in winning the Dunk Tank challenge and take home the gold.

Anthony Carvalho: Digital systems coordinator

Bio: Anthony Carvalho is our HSC BBQ DJ. Getting his start at HSC as a Patient Transport Assistant 15 years ago, he has also worked with HSC Business and Corporate Services and the HSC Communications Team before joining Shared Health as a Communications and Engagement Specialist this year.  

Haven’t you always wanted to dunk the DJ?

Jason Douglas: Manager of neurosurgical inpatient unit

Bio: He has worked at HSC for 15 + years and has held numerous roles, over the years. He has a personal trainer certification, and  loves group fitness.

You can find him teaching  Spin at Riot Cycle and strength, early mornings and weekends.  He would like to Challenge Chrissy Carson to raising funds. We can wage a dunk of each other on whoever collects the most.

Crystal Steck: Manager MDR

Bio: I am a 22 year veteran at HSC, coming up through the ranks in support roles. So if you ever had the wrong food tray, a late transporter or you aren’t getting the right things from MDR, take out those years of frustration and donate to dunk me!
