A Manitoba family is honouring a very special boy by helping children in hospital. Janet and Dan Sawatzky are fundraising as a tribute to their son, Alexander, who passed away in 2017. Alexander was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) in 2016.

Dan and Janet say Alexander had a huge heart and loved to give gifts. He cared for everyone and always wanted to help out wherever he could.

Dan will also ride 135 km from Winkler to HSC Children’s Hospital on Saturday, June 4 to honour his son.

All money raised will go towards supporting the Child Life team at HSC Children’s Hospital. Child Life programs help families cope with difficult times through therapeutic play, music therapy, clowning, and so much more.
