The Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba’s 36th annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic returns to Assiniboine Park on Sept. 7 thanks to sponsors like Johnston Group

Winnipeg, MB (May 13, 2025) – The weather in September is perfect for another fun-filled, family-friendly Teddy Bears’ Picnic! Teddy bears and friends mark your calendars now for Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Assiniboine Park from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, with the event’s Teddy Bears’ Pancake Breakfast by IHOP beginning at 9:00 am.
Teddy Bears’ Picnic, sponsored by Johnston Group, is an exciting day of family fun that also provides kids with a developmentally appropriate understanding of what may occur in a hospital or research environment.
“Johnston Group is honoured to partner with the Children’s Hospital Foundation as the presenting sponsor of the 36th annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic, a beloved community event that brings families together for a day filled with fun, imagination, and connection,” says Dave Angus, President, Johnston Group. “The work being done at HSC Children’s touches the lives of families across our province, and we’re proud to champion every child’s right to world-class care found right here in Manitoba.”
Back this year is Teddy Bears’ Picnic 50/50, sponsored by FoodFare. This year there is a guaranteed prize of $10,000! Tickets are on sale now at goodbear.ca/5050.
“Teddy Bears’ Picnic has been a staple within the Winnipeg community for over 36 years and it is so exciting that this beloved event will be back again at Assiniboine Park this September,” Scott McDonald, Chair, Teddy Bears’ Picnic.

“We’re also so happy to have the Teddy Bears’ Picnic 50/50 again. Every ticket purchased will help us continue to provide education and exposure to children on important topics such as health and safety, while delivering it in a fun and approachable way, which is why the Picnic has made such a positive impact over the years. Caregivers who once attended the event as children often bring their own families to share that same experience.”
Teddy Bears’ Picnic will also feature family favourite activity tents, like the Dr. Goodbear Clinic put on by frontline health care staff, where kids’ teddy bears are triaged and go through a variety of medical tests and treatments including MRIs, X-rays, and casting, and the I Want to be a Scientist tent put on by Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba will guide kids through fun experiments, sponsored by University Medical Group. “Generous community leaders, supporters, volunteers and sponsors – like presenting sponsor Johnston Group – have come together to make planning for Teddy Bears’ Picnic possible and we’re so grateful,” says Stefano Grande, President & CEO, Children’s Hospital Foundation.
“We know kids and families make meaningful memories at this beloved community event and are so thrilled to be welcoming it back.”
The Foundation still needs more support to make Teddy Bears’ Picnic a success. To become a volunteer or sponsor at Teddy Bears Picnic visit goodbear.ca/TeddyBearsPicnic.
