Winnipeg, MB (June 5, 2023) – Manitobans can stock their shelves for summer at the Children’s Hospital Book Market summer pop-up sale Saturday, June 17 at St. Vital Centre. This special, one-day event will feature a wide variety of fan-favourite, vintage mysteries and fiction books as well as comics, music (vinyl LPs, 78s, and 45s) and more.
Children’s Hospital Book Market summer sale hours:
Saturday, June 17 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Please note this event is a sale only and book donations are not able to be accepted.
Community members who would like to donate books can drop off new or gently used items at:
- Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Stations
- Any Dufresne store in Manitoba
This event is generously sponsored by long-time partner, Dufresne, and new this year, Amazon. Proceeds support Child Life programming at HSC Children’s Hospital – to provide comfort for kids and their families in hospital and includes music therapy, the library program, CHTV (the hospital’s closed-circuit television station with content just for kids) and a playroom with toys, games, crafts and a mini hospital where kids can play out their experiences with treatments and procedures.
The Book Market was established in 1961 and is the longest-running volunteer-organized event in support of the Foundation. The spring 2023 sale raised over $250,000. Volunteers are also planning for a fall sale September 15 – 16, 2023.
All funds raised at the Book Market will go towards the $75 million Better Futures campaign, Manitoba’s largest-ever donor-driven campaign in support of child health, which focuses on three areas of strategic priority in pediatric health care: critical infrastructure and facilities, leading-edge pediatric research on childhood illnesses, and innovative programs to bring comfort to families in hospital – like the Child Life programming the Book Market directly supports.
