Bold Commerce hosts 24-hour game-a-thon

(September 5, 2019) – More than 235 gamers will gather together at Bold Commerce this September 7 and 8 for Extra Life North 2019, a 24-hour game-a-thon charity event in support of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. Presented by Bold Commerce and Flocker.tv, the event will be central Canada’s largest Extra Life event yet, and the first 24-hour gaming event of this capacity in Winnipeg. Together, organizers, sponsors, participants and the community hope to raise over $50K.

In the last decade, Extra Life has raised more than $50 million for sick and injured kids. All proceeds raised by Extra Life North will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.

From video games and mobile games to tabletop and board games, the event encourages gamers of all types to register, and for 24 consecutive hours, do what they love most. Leading up to the event, participants are encouraged to raise funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, by gathering support from their community. The public is also encouraged to stop in to make a donation and cheer on the gamers as they battle for a great cause. The event will be MCed by Winnipeg’s favourite morning radio host and do-gooder Ace Burpee, with 103 Virgin Radio Live on Location. Nathan Beaulieu of the Winnipeg Jets will also be in on the action, playing head-to-head with Champion Kids of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. Competition is also expected to heat up with a media vs. media gaming match. Other notable guests include RBC Olympians Jill Officer, Olympic gold medalist and 2-time World Curling Champion and James Lavallée, sprint kayaker for the Canadian Kayak Team.
