Winnipeg, MB (October 2, 2026) – Five years ago, a group of heroes began to harness their skills to bring joy and distraction to kids facing tough times. Today marks the fifth anniversary of the Suspended Superhero event, led and imagined by Winnipeg-based Voyageur Technical.
Participants dressed as heroes and community protectors geared up to rappel down the sides of HSC Children’s Hospital, Manitoba’s only children’s hospital, bringing joy and distraction to kids who can see them out their windows.

“Reaching the fifth edition of Suspended Superheroes is an incredible achievement, and we are honoured to be part of an event that continues to bring our community together,” says Chris Toews, Managing Director, Voyageur Technical. “The smiles, excitement, and lasting memories created for children inspire us every year and make this event truly special.”
Since its inception, Suspended Superheroes participants have included rope access and rescue specialists from Voyageur Technical, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, Winnipeg Police Service, Canadian Armed Forces, and RCMP. Starting in 2022, community leaders have joined in as superheroes-in-training, fundraising for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba and learning rappelling skills from Voyageur Technical to participate in the high-flying fun.

The Suspended Superheroes event has raised over $200,000 since it began, and this year the superheroes united to raise more than $33,000 and counting. Donations will be accepted until October 9, 2026, at goodbear.ca/suspendedsuperheroes.
This year, funds will go towards child health research at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba.
“Support for child health research helps investigators discover better treatments, prevent childhood illness, and improve the lives of children and families at our province’s only children’s hospital and beyond,” says Dr. Andrew Halayko, Interim Co-CEO, Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba. “Support from our superhero donors will help fuel breakthroughs that bring hope closer to home, for now and the future.”
Health care experts are grateful the superheroes give families a chance to make meaningful memories during tough times.

“The Suspended Superheroes help kids be kids while receiving treatment and care,” says Jenny Kidder, Manager of Child Life at HSC Children’s Hospital. “This event offers an intentional opportunity for joy, distraction, and a sense of celebration, bringing comfort to kids and families.”
This fundraiser was made possible thanks to generous community support from Voyageur Technical, Greyhouse Designs, Litebox, Maple Leaf Ropes, Reliant Action and many other super sidekicks.
