$4 million in equipment helping staff care for kids

Every day at HSC Children’s Hospital, frontline teams rely on critical equipment to provide life‑saving care for kids from Manitoba, Nunavut, and Northwestern Ontario. Thanks to generous donors, $4 million in technology and leading-edge tools are now helping children and families receive the best care possible.

At Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, we’re deeply grateful for donors who continue to answer the call for urgent needs to support kids and families, like Heather & Bob Williams and Ken & Peggy Talbot who have inspired endless community support and an anonymous donor who gave generously to complete our surgical tools campaign.

“Our community has a responsibility to ensure children receive world-class care close to home,” says Heather & Bob Williams. “This investment reflects what is possible when we come together to support our health care teams and the children and families who rely on them every day!”

Every year, 6,000 operations are performed by the Pediatric Surgery Department at HSC Children’s and there are over 85,000 clinic visits requiring diagnostic tools. Critical equipment improves efficiency, enhances accuracy, and supports safer, more coordinated care.

“Your generosity has strengthened the very heart of our hospital,” says Dr. Patricia Birk, Provincial Specialty Lead, Child Health, Shared Health, and Department Head, Pediatrics & Child Health. “Thanks to your support, our teams now have the critical equipment they need to save lives and offer every child the dignity and care they deserve. On behalf of our staff, our patients, and the families we serve, thank you for making hope possible.”

Advanced diagnostic and monitoring technology provides clearer, more reliable information, helping teams make confident decisions and deliver timely treatment during critical times for kids’ health. Having dependable, up‑to‑date equipment also boosts morale, empowering care teams to perform at their best. Together, these benefits expand the hospital’s ability to offer high‑quality services and meet the evolving needs of kids in our community.

Donor support has gone towards tools like the Otolaryngology Microscope to help specialists perform complex and minimally invasive ENT surgical procedures with a high level of precision, just two of many new tools now in use at HSC Children’s.

We’re so thankful to have $4 million in new equipment including:
