Teddy Bears’ Picnic on “paws” due to COVID-19

Winnipeg, MB (January 29, 2021) – Given ongoing challenges related to COVID-19, Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba will be “pawsing” the 2021 Teddy Bears’ Picnic.

At this time, it is unlikely that large groups – upwards of 40,000 people attend the picnic at Assiniboine Park each year – will be able to safely gather this spring, nor will healthcare staff vital to running picnic features like the Dr. Goodbear Clinic, be available given urgent needs for those essential resources in hospital and the community.

Despite the global pandemic, kids at HSC Winnipeg Children’s Hospital still need support.

“COVID-19 has made fundraising extremely challenging. We need the community’s support to continue caring for kids who need Children’s Hospital every day,” says Stefano Grande, President and CEO of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. “We are so grateful to all who can help the sick and injured children who still have surgeries and treatments every day.”

Funds are needed to purchase vital medical equipment for testing and treatment as well as programs in the hospital that bring comfort to sick children and their families during difficult times. #continuecaringforkids
