Community Partner: St. Vital Centre

For over 30 years,  St. Vital Centre has sponsored the Children’s Hospital Book Market.

“We cannot imagine a more beautiful setting in which to run our three sales each year,” says Carol Irving, Children’s Hospital Book Market Coordinator. “St. Vital Centre is so bright and inviting. Each wing in the mall is filled with tables of books. Such extensive space allows for enough exposure to make each sale a big success!”

Two times a year the corridors of St. Vital Centre become a virtual library of reading treasures for all ages and all interests. With 65 different book categories, the Book Market has something for everyone, and it’s an event St. Vital Centre is proud to house.

“Being a strong part of the community is at the heart of what we do here at St. Vital Centre, so it’s special for us to help kids in need,” says Cindy Shack, Marketing Director/Specialty Leasing Manager, St. Vital Centre. “It’s hard to believe that we’ve been hosting the Book Market since 1986 and we couldn’t be more proud to be involved. Seeing the Centre fill up with books never stops feeling magical and we always get excited to see customers coming back year after year.”

The Book Market and its extensive army of volunteers are equally as happy to return to their inviting locale.

“St. Vital has become like family to us, they are such an important part of what we do,” says Irving. “Their dedication has made it possible for this extremely important child-centered project to thrive and grow to heights none of us ever imagined. Children’s Hospital Book Market and the lives of the children we help are eternally grateful to St. Vital Centre.”

It’s a relationship with no end in sight.

“Since its inception, the Book Market has raised nearly $8 million in support of children’s health care in Manitoba,” notes Shack. “St. Vital Centre is privileged to have partnered with the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba for over 30 wonderful years, and we look forward to many more.”

Bear hugs to St. Vital Centre and its patrons for over years of helping Manitoba’s sick kids feel better!
