Stories - Donors
Daryl and Sheila Reid lost their son Jordan shortly after birth due to a rare respiratory condition called hyaline membrane disease.
“Jordan arrived into this world in extreme distress,” remember the Reid’s. “The nurses and doctors at Children’s Hospital were amazing. They did their best for Jordan, but there was nothing anyone could have done to save him.”
Even after having three healthy sons, the Reid’s have always made an annual gift to Children’s Hospital in Jordan’s memory.
“The gifts of past donors have led to advances in care that save so many babies today,” say the Reid’s. “These gifts have allowed us to raise three healthy children. Now we want to ‘pay it forward’ to the generations of young families that will follow.”
Jordan died 35 years ago, but thanks to medical advances, 90% of the children with Jordan’s disease now survive. These advances are made possible by research and new technologies funded by donors like you.
“We will always remember, as long as we are breathing, the role the medical professionals played in the care of our son during those few days of Jordan’s life,” say the Reid’s. “So we made a decision to leave a lasting legacy to help sick children. And we hope you’ll consider a similar decision to truly have a great and profound impact.”
Thank you Reid family for inspiring so many! The most important decision that you will make in your gift or estate planning is how you will leave your legacy and make a difference.
