Eric's Energy

The holiday season can be a wonderful time to visit with friends and family. For Eric Guyot, one particular holiday get together has become an opportunity to give back and support the Children’s Hospital.

“The annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Party has become a tradition among our group of friends,” says Eric. “Everyone wears a good old fashioned Christmas sweater and comes out to have a great night of party games, dancing, and catching up.”

Resembling a Manitoba-style social, the party was initially a get together to visit with friends home for Christmas break. However, Eric saw potential to raise funds and give back.

“After I completed university, I decided I wanted to keep the party going but to also make it bigger and in support of a great cause,” says Eric. “I know the Children’s Hospital is an important charity and I like the idea of helping make things a little better for families who have children in the hospital at this time of year, which must be unimaginably difficult.”

Each year when Eric delivers the proceeds from the evening, he is touched by his surroundings.

“I am very fortunate that the only time I have needed to visit Children’s Hospital in the last several years has been to drop off our donation,” recalls Eric. “Each time I do so I’m left feeling encouraged by the strength and courage I see in the patients and staff while I’m there.”

In 2017, they celebrated year 7 for the party and will be the 4th time raising funds to help sick kids in the community.

“I’m very proud of that and am looking forward to making a good contribution for many years to come,” states Eric.
