Community Partner: Central Transport Refrigeration

The Children’s Hospital Foundation would not exist without the crucial support of amazing community partners like Central Transport Refrigeration (CTR).

Six years ago, CTR had a vision to create an event that would show appreciation for their customers and at the same time, give back to the community. Their annual customer appreciation/open house was created and continues to grow each year.

“While reviewing local charities, we quickly determined the Children’s Hospital would be the perfect fit,” says Don Harvey, President, CTR.

“CTR is a family owned business and many of our employees have young families. The Children’s Hospital Foundation is such a deserving group and CTR is proud to be their partner.”

The CTR Habanero Fish Fry and Burger Bash attracts hundreds of attendees who take part in the silent auction, visit supplier booths and enjoy an amazing lunch. Incredibly, CTR matches all proceeds raised, doubling the impact of every dollar. It’s an event that allows CTR to showcase their level of commitment to being extraordinary community ambassadors.

“Our fundraising efforts would not be possible without our team of 65 employees and over 30 suppliers who donate prizes, set up booths for the trade-show, sell auction and 50/50 tickets, sell ice-cream, host games and welcome each guest with a warm smile and a handshake,” says Trish Seens, Project Leader, CTR. “CTR is honored and humbled by the community support that makes our fundraising goals possible.”

Since its inception in 2014, this fundraising initiative has seen an increase in funds raised each year, for a grand total of over $40,000 dollars. Their success and dedication is celebrated and deeply appreciated by the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“CTR is an incredible group of people that go above and beyond to ensure they raise as much money as possible to help sick kids,” says Courtney Leiman, Annual Giving Officer, Children’s Hospital Foundation. “It is inspiring to see a company come together and get involved. We are very grateful for their remarkable continued support.”

For CTR it has been a labour of love that has delivered many memorable moments.

“The day is a whirlwind of excitement. No matter how much organizing and preparation is done leading up to the event you can always expect a few challenges which often become the moments we remember the most,” says Trish. “When I reflect on the years, a huge highlight for me is the smiles on our employee’s faces. As a project leader, there is no better feeling than that of support, understanding and hard work put forth by your peers. At CTR, we truly value our customers. We are 50 years strong and are fortunate to work for a company that allows us the opportunity to say thank you. Cheers to the next 50!”

Cheers to you CTR! Bear hugs to all of the employees, suppliers and customers for their incredible ongoing efforts to help sick kids feel better.
